We offer the 35T Nova Trawler as an affordable trawler that will give you safe and reliable coastal cruising along the Eastern Seaboard and all the way to the Caribbean.

The hull is a full keel semi-planning design. The full keel is a desirable feature by seasoned boaters. It does an excellent job in preventing drive gear damage from grounding and underwater hazzards.

The 35 Nova Trawler offers a practical blend between valuable interior space and workable deck space. Access to the bow is provided by two wheelhouse doors. The 14" side deck and hand rails provide secure footing and handhold. The cockpit is deep and the transom door offers safe passage to the swim platform.

We designed the 35 Nova Trawler for the cruising couple who enjoy entertaining friends in a formal dining atmosphere. The design includes a large dining table that comfortably seats four adults with sleeping accommodations for staying overnight. We can also design and build an interior arrangement to suite a small family.

The forward cabin has a large Vee berth bunk that is six feet fore and aft and nine feet on the diagional. There is a head on the port side with an electric toilet, sink, hot and cold taps and shower. Counter is high pressure laminate with sea rails.

The 35 Nova Trawler has an elevated wheelhouse with windows all around. This offers the best visibility for safety under way and gives you a sightseeing advantage over most conventional cabin cruisers. Helm chair and bench seat provide comfortable sitting and the dash is large and can accommadate charts and variety of electronic equipment.

The engine room is under the wheelhouse with easy access through a floor hatch and a convenient ladder to get below. All equipment is easy to get at with systems that can be traced and simply understood.

The aft cabin has a dinette set-up with a large table that converts into a double bed.

The L shapped galley is spacious, lots of drawers and storgae. There is a fridge with a separate freezer, ships stove with oven, hanging locker and lots of storage space under the counter.

There is a dutch door aft to the cockpit. The cockpit has a two lockers and a transom door offering safe access to the swim platform.

PERFORMANCE, boat speed, fuel consumption, range

We can install just about any manufactures engine, however the most popular engine is the Cummins 6BT series. It has a cubic volume of 5.9 liters. (359 cubic inch)

This engine is very versatile. Depending on the configuration, this engine output starts at 115 hp and can go as high as 370 hp.

At 115 HP you can run this engine up to 3000 hours per year, at 370 HP you are limited to 300 hours per year.

With the Cummins 6BT5.9 turbo charged 210 HP marine diesel you can cruise nicely at 8 knots (9 mph). About 1800 rpm with fuel consumption of 3 gph giving you a range of 900 miles. This engine is commercially rated and allowed to run 1500 hours per year. At WOT top speed was 13.6 kts (15.5 mph) Full power is limited to two hours out of eight. Reduced power rpm must not exceed 2400. So at reduced power at 2400 rpm the boat will do 12 kts (13.7 mph)

The Cummins 6BTA5.9 (turbo charged and aftercooled 260 HP) marine diesel is also commercail rated. At 2600 rpm expect a top speed of 15.2 knots (17.3 mph)

Values are measured and calculated from several sources that include actual sea trials and engine manufacturers performance data. All values are taken at dry weight displacement with a fuel tank capacity of 300 US gallons.
